THE PIANODISC® IS ONE OF THE BEST AFTERMARKET PLAYER SYSTEMS. With it’s whisper quiet action, and it’s full function control box with both floppy disc and CD capability, it can make most any piano play as if a live performer were in your living room. And because you can turn its’ volume down to almost nothing, you can enjoy your piano’s music over dinner without having to shout. Rechel Piano Company is a factory certified installer and service center for PianoDisc®, and we would be pleased to bring new life to your piano with a PianoDisc® player unit.
The PianoDisc System uses solenoids mounted under the keys to play the notes. The solenoids are driven by a processor which is connected via Bluetooth to your smart phone, tablet or any device with bluetooth connectivity. Using the PianoDisc IQ app, you select the album you want to hear, press play, and the piano will play the song you’ve selected. If you’ve selected a song with accompaniment, that will play through a speaker mounted under the piano.
In virtually every case, yes. Rechel Piano Company has installed PianoDisc® units in many models of grands, uprights, consoles, and even spinet pianos. We have even installed one in a square grand piano. The main consideration that impacts the quality of the playback is the quality of the piano being considered for installation.
Many of the songs you can play on your PianoDisc system have some kind of recorded accompaniment; a jazz trio or concert orchestra, or songs from artist’s actual albums: Billy Joel or Norah Jones, Chicago, the Beatles or Sinatra can perform in your living room. The accompaniment can also be sent via wired connection to existing speakers in the room, or to Sonos systems.
Because of the complexity and mess involved, it is necessary to have the piano in our shops to assure a quality installation. Our fully equipped wood and metalworking shop provides the tools and materials needed to customize the player system to your particular piano. Upon request, we can provide references for skilled piano movers.
Not in the least. Because the solenoids are not connected to the keys, but merely pushes up the back of them from underneath, there is no difference in the touch or sound of the piano before or after the installation.
It depends on the processor, and the easiest way to tell is by the control box. If you have a PDS 32 or PDS 128, the system is probably not upgradable and would need to be replaced. Most systems using the PDS 128 plus, 228 and PianoCD control boxes are upgradable to the latest wireless technology.
Along with the ability to control your piano from your smart phone, tablet, HomePod, Amazon Echo, or Apple Watch, the new processor has over a thousand levels of intensity, allowing you your system to more faithfully reproduce the original artist, and to play more accurately at a lower volume. The upgrade also comes with over $1,400 in music.
Music for your PianoDisc® can be purchased online at www.pianodisc.com. The music can be downloaded directly to your device using the PianoDisc IQ app, or purchased in CD form and transferred to your smart phone or tablet using your computer and iTunes.
